Bondo's on the road to recovery!

bondo_head_only.jpgBondo, a German Shepherd mix, was referred to our hospital by Dr. Douglas Young at Rainier Beach Veterinary Hospital on Monday, January 19th after his owner found that Bondo had been brutally shot by an unknown assailant while in his own backyard.  The bullet caused a severe fracture in his right humerus (upper leg bone), leaving multiple bullet fragments in his leg.

Dr. Russell Patterson performed surgery Wednesday, 1/21, to repair Bondo's fracture, using a pin and a plate.  Bondo is recovering well today and is expected to be able to go home on Friday.  We have been amazed and impressed with the outpouring of concern and generosity from concerned dog lovers across the country, including California and New York.

Bondo has shown great patience throughout his grueling ordeal.  At nearly 100 pounds, he has been nothing but easy to care for and affectionate toward all that come in contact with him.

He has a long road ahead of him, but with his owner's support and on-going rehabilitation, we expect a full recovery for Bondo! bondo_full_body.jpg
