American College of Veterinary Surgeons Symposium

ACVS_surgeonsmallDuring November 2011, three of our surgeons and our newest technician attended the American College of Veterinary SurgeonsAmerican College of Veterinary Surgeons (ACVS) Symposium in Chicago as part of their continuing education. Symposium lectures covered a wide variety of topics, from orthopedics to soft tissue to minimally invasive surgical techniques. Drs. Allen Johnson and Russ Patterson also attended a workshop regarding the latest in fracture repairs.  This symposium is an excellent way for our doctors to keep abreast of new developments and techniques in veterinary surgery, anesthesia and pain management.

Although in our state, there is presently no requirement for continuing education for veterinary technicians, we at ASCS feel that it is imperative that we provide this yearly opportunity for our technicians to advance their skills and knowledge, as well as network with their peers across the country. As such, all conference expenses are paid in full by ASCS. Technicians may choose from several national conferences put on by organizations such as the ACVS, the Veterinary Emergency and Critical Care SocietyVeterinary Emergency and Critical Care Society, the American College of Veterinary AnesthesiologyAmerican College of Veterinary Anesthesiology, and the American Animal Hospital AssociationAmerican Animal Hospital Association.
