Dr. Kari Goes to School!

KJ_USTrainingcrop

Dr. Kari M. Johnson was only with us for six months before we sent her back to school!  We had known Dr. Kari for many years as a well-respected general and emergency veterinarian when we asked her to join us in December 2010 as our physical rehabilitation doctor.

This July, Dr. Kari had the wonderful opportunity to kari_head_shotundergo 2 weeks of advanced training in canine physical therapy at the University of Tennessee. Next, she'll do a week-long externship at Massachusetts Veterinary Hospital in Boston this August, en route to examination and certification as a Certified Canine Rehabilitation Practitioner-- one of only about 300 veterinarians in the country!

Physical rehabilitation has long been recognized as beneficial in people with acute or chronic injuries, and many pet owners are seeking these benefits for their canine companions. Using physical exercises, the underwater treadmill, ultrasound, laser, and her own hands and eyes she guides many of our canine patients through their post-surgical recovery. Dogs with old injuries or arthritis, as well as agility and hunting dogs, can also be helped by a physical rehabilitation program.  To learn more about rehabilitation options, take a look at our rehab pages or call our front desk to set up a consultation with Dr. Kari!
